Peter Russo the State Member for Toohey

December 07, 2017

I am the new member for the new state seat of Toohey. The electorate of Toohey is named after Toohey Forest Park. Toohey Forest Park is named after early Brisbane resident and land owner, James Toohey

Toohey consists of the suburbs of Moorooka, Rocklea, Salisbury, Nathan, Coppers Plains, Robertson, MacGregor, Sunnybank, Runcorn and Eight Mile Plains.

A summary of the boundary changes undertaken by the Queensland Redistribution Commission to create the Toohey electorate are described as follows:

To improve enrolment in this electorate, the boundaries have been extended further north to gain electors from suburbs located in the existing electorate of Yeerongpilly.
The Commission has made the following changes.
The electorate:

 Gained Salisbury, Nathan, part of Rocklea and the Moorooka suburbs from the existing electorate of Yeerongpilly;

 Gained the balance of the Eight Mile Plains suburb from both Mansfield and Stretton;

 Transferred Archerfield, Willawong and the remainder of the Acacia Ridge locality to Algester; and

 Transferred Sunnybank Hills, parts of Runcorn and the Acacia Ridge suburbs to Stretton.
