State Member for Toohey, Peter Russo and Councillor Steve Griffiths (Moorooka Ward) met with over 250 concerned Nathan residents on the 14th of March at the Salisbury Hotel.
Residents voiced their strong opposition to a proposal from 400-500 units at 53 Fairlawn Street. This will more than double the accommodation in this pocket of Nathan which has only one entry point.
Residents were angry that Lord Mayor Quirk and Chairperson of City Planning, Cr. Simmonds did not attend the meeting.
Other important issue raised at the meeting included the impact on the ambulance service, pressure of the extra population on local schools, the impact on parking and traffic and the fact the Council is failing to deliver infrastructure with new developments that they approve.
